love:live music is Ireland’s celebration of National Music Day on Thursday 21 June through free live music events in cities, towns and villages all over the country. Initiated byMusic Network it is an open invitation to everyone to make music everywhere. Clonmel Junction Festival and the Common Thread Café in conjunction with South Tipperary County Council Arts Service present a wonderful selection of Music on the streets of Clonmel. Come and enjoy the outdoor evening music trail from under the arches of The Main Guard through Mitchell Street to Parnell Street, culminating with a concert at the County Museum at 8pm. All events are free.

The Clonmel Scout Group are inviting Scouts past and present to attend a Slide Show of all their Camps in the Scout Den, Sarsfield Street on Friday the 29th June.
This year will see the Scouts celebrate 50 years of camping, since 1962 there has been an annual camp and this year is no different with over 60 scouts, along with leaders to attend the 2012 camp in Fethard on Sea.
Over the years hundreds of boys and girls and different generations of families have attended camp and although camping has changed over the years, the spirit of camping has not, with each day and night filled with different activties.
The Slide Show will start at 7:30pm and refreshments will be provided.

The Clonmel Junction Festival is an annual arts festival which takes place each July in the town of Clonmel.
The festival hosts international theatre, emerging theatre, children’s theatre, family entertainment, circus, dance, rock, world music, comedy and lots of free entertainment.
This year the festival will run from 6 – 15 July 2012.

Local Launch of The Butler Trail

A morning of medieval madness will take place on Saturday June 2nd in the courtyard of Ormond Castle, Carrick on Suir, from 11am until 1pm, in celebration of the local launch ofSouth Tipperary Tourism’s new initiative ‘The Butler Trail’.
As part of the Clancy Brothers Festival, South Tipperary Tourism has secured the services of a number of well established professional entertainment providers to create an event that will highlight the Butler and medieval heritage of Carrick while making it a fun event for the family. Come along and meet Black Tom Butler, owner of Ormond Castle in the 1500s. Dressed in full regalia and accompanied by Lady Butler, Black Tom will tell all about life and times in Carrick on Suir 500 years ago! The launch of The Butler Trail will also featuremedieval craft demonstrations and music. Children will be invited to dress up in costumes from the period and hear tales of life in those days. There will also be a display of swords and weaponry from the period.
A unique highlight of the Butler Trail launch in Carrick on Suir will be the presence of Munster Falconry, who will set up a display of birds of prey on the green outside the castle, inviting the public to view and learn about the birds and also witness some of the birds in action!
‘The Butler Trail’, an initiative by the South Tipperary Tourism Company, stretches thirty-eight kilometres along the River Suir, encouraging visitors to explore the history and the buildings of the Butlers and in turn discover the character of the towns they influenced. As a tourism initiative The Butler Trail aims to attract visitors to South Tipperary and encourage the visitors to stay in the locality and in turn provide a boost to the local economy.

The Bealtaine Festival is Ireland’s largest collaborative Arts festival. It celebrates creativity as we age during the month of May every year.
In association with Age & Opportunity, Tipperary Bealtaine festival presents a month long programme inviting people aged 50+ to engage with arts and cultural activity and offers opportunities to reignite the flame of creativity and unlock hidden talents through theatre, the visual arts, music and literature.
The Arts Services of South and North Tipperary County Council together with Tipperary Libraries have once again co-ordinated the Tipperary Bealtaine Festival, celebrating creativity as we age.
The launch of the 2012 Tipperary Bealtaine Festival takes place on Tuesday 1st May at 2.30pm in The Source Arts Centre, Thurles. This is a free event and will feature performances by Internationally renowned storyteller Niall de Burca and close harmony vocal trio Swingabella, followed by refreshments. Admission is free and bookings are currently being taken by the Box Office at The Source Arts Centre, telephone: 0504 – 90204 to reserve your seat! Active Retirement Groups and Care Centres should advise of numbers attending.

Niall de Burca is one of Ireland’s finest traditional storytellers performing Nationally in theatre’s, on radio and at many festivals including Féile Earrai, the CS Lewis Festival and the National Children’s Book Festival.
The Bealtaine Festival is described by Age and Opportunity as an invitation ‘to try something new, to explore something creative this Bealtaine in recognition of the life enhancing joys of constant learning and our capacity for creativity at all stages of our lives.’ The theme for this year’s festival “What kind of old do you want to be” recognises that, as older people, we are not one homogenous group; we are individuals with widely different talents, interests and needs.
In the spirit of this we are encouraging people to experience new art forms, and to try something new this May. Events range from dance workshops to ceramics and from film to visual arts and we hope that by the end of the festival you might have had a chance to discover new skills and talents in the arts.

From Christ the King in the Glen of Aherlow, we will follow the way marked path on the Ballinacourty Loop Walk and take in the breathtaking view of Tipperary’s Galtee Mountains. Experience the freedom of the great outdoors for adventure and family fun.

Estimated time of walk: You have a choice of two walks, a one hour walk and a two hour walk. Both will leave together from Aherlow House Hotel at 12 noon.

Wear suitable clothing & footwear; bring water. Please note that this walk is not buggy or wheelchair accessible.
