Fethard and Galtee Regional Water Supply Schemes Water Conservation Measures Update

Following further reductions in source supplies, consequent on the prevailing dry weather conditions, increased demand and ruptures on the watermain network, the following measures, with immediate effect, are necessary to preserve supply:

Night Time shut offs from 9 pm to 7 am:

Shut off to the Coolbawn to Moyglass line affecting surrounding areas.
Turning off at Kilboy, Killenaule affecting Graystown, Cathaganstown and Knockanglass.
This is due to a major burst on the source supply to the Fethard Regional Water Supply Scheme which occurred on 08 July 2013. It will take c. 5 days for the reservoir at Killenaule to be fully replenished as a result of same, assuming no further issues arise in the meantime.
Turning off at Ballinastick reservoir affecting Coalbrook area, Gurteen and areas of Earlshill, Mardyke, Monslatt, Ballincurry and Lickfinn.

Transfer of Supplies to Groundwater Augmentation supplies:

Transfer of the Dualla borehole to the Coleraine, Meldrum, Monagoge and surrounding areas, also if required to Mocklershill area.
Transfer of the Mullinahone borehole to Mullinahone village; Drangan Road, Mullinahone; Gurteen, Mullinoly, Cappoge, Ballycullin Bridge and surrounding areas; also if required to Kilvemnon.
Transfer of the Thomastown borehole supply to Thomastown, Golden village, Rathduff, Kilfeakle East and surrounding areas.

Please note that the transfer may cause a temporary disturbance to the supply mains and that the water in general will be hard in nature.

Also all other regional water supply schemes are under significant pressure and may require action at short notice.

Please also see attached notice, dated 08 July 2013.
