Festival Cluain Meala, now in its fourth year, will kick off on Saturday 25 August
2012 with an concert by Liam Ó Maonlaí in the beautiful historic setting of Old St
Mays Church. Liam Ó Maonlaí is probably best known for being a founding member
of the Hothouse Flowers, has had a long and successful career spanning over
twenty years. His passion for music has seen success in both rock and traditional
forms. As well as being a singer and pianist, Liam also plays tin whistle, bodhran
and harp. His debut solo album Rian was released in 2005 and mixes Irish music
with music from all over the world. This was followed by To be Touched in 2008.
In July 2011 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fiddler’s Green
International Festival. He has also recently collaborated with Michael Keegen
Dolan, choreographer and Director of Fabulous Beast Dance Company to create a
contemporary dance show to the music of Rian

The concert will be followed by a medieval style barbecue in the church grounds
